Charlotte, NC- December 22nd, 2016- Cohen Equities announced today that the company will be welcoming Anytime Fitness to its Galleria Village Shopping Center located at the intersection of Sardis Road and Monroe Road in Charlotte, North Carolina. The fitness center will occupy 4,900 square feet of the 35,000 square foot property, and is set to open in summer 2017. Dowell Finch of New South Properties of the Carolinas represented Cohen Equities in the transaction.
Anytime Fitness is a 24-hour fitness center which has rapidly grown from 200 locations to 3,000 worldwide since its inception 2006.
Cohen Equities acquired Galleria Shopping Center in late 2014 at 43% occupancy. Since then, ownership has signed 9 new leases at the property, bringing it to 86% occupancy in just a year and a half. There is currently a 4,000 square foot 2nd generation restaurant available at the center. Galleria Village is situated on six acres of land, a portion which is occupied by a current free-standing Rite-Aid as well as McDonalds. This micro submarket consists of Harris Teeter and Food Lion anchored shopping centers, the adjacent Walmart Supercenter, and is in close proximity to several residential neighborhoods.
“This deal will supplement an already diverse tenant base at this shopping center, and is sure to please the residents of surrounding neighborhoods” said Meir Cohen, Chairman and CEO of Cohen Equities. “We feel strongly that Anytime Fitness will be a well-suited addition to our center, and the deal is a testament to the aggressive leasing strategy that New South Properties and our internal leasing team have implemented here.”
